About us
Our vision is to encourage children and people touched by Tsunami of March 11, 2011 by planting Sakura (cherry trees) in kinder gardens, primary schools, and junior high schools where tsunami reached.Sakura will be a symbol of commemoration of the tragedy, and a landmark of a safety line against future tsunami.

Schools
Why we plant Sakura in schools? It is because those schools should be a center of reconstructing communities, more or less troubled or destroyed by tsunami. We hope that children, in other words our future, will tell their memories of Tsunami to the next generations. There are more than 200 schools attacked by tsunami in four prefectures in Tohoku area; Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima. We will plant 10 to 20 Sakura a year, for 10 years from 2012, and total of 100 to 200 Sakura will be planted. After all, it depends on donations.

Sakura
Every spring, Sakura will blossom and it makes people remember the Tsunami of March 11, 2011 for hundreds and hundreds of years. Our Sakura is Edo-Higan-Sakura. It is said that it lives for 1,000 years.According to the records, a tsunami of the same height as March 11 attacked the area 1,000 years ago. We believe we have to pass the memories to the next generations for 1,000 years. It is the reason why we plant this long-life Sakura, even expensive. On the other hand, life duration of Somei-Yoshino, the most popular Sakura in Japan, is only 60 to 80 years. Sakura that we plant in schools is 10 to 12 years old and 5 to 6 m high, at planting.Once our project is completed, Sakura will form a huge land art if you see from the sky.
